Student Support
At St. Luke’s, we are committed to ensuring that every student receives the support they need to thrive academically. Our approach includes ongoing assessments, targeted interventions, and collaboration between teachers, specialists, parents, and students.

Educational Testing and Accommodation Review
At the start of each school year, our School Social Worker will schedule a meeting for every student who has educational testing on file. This meeting includes the student’s homeroom teacher(s), parents, and any additional staff working directly with the child. Together, we review the student’s learning profile, discuss recommended accommodations, and ensure a shared understanding of how best to support the student’s needs in the classroom.

In Middle School, all current educational evaluations and accommodations are reviewed by faculty during back-to-school meetings. Individual follow-up meetings will be scheduled as needed to support implementation and answer any questions.

Learning Labs for Literacy and Math Support
Students in grades 1 through 5 who demonstrate a need for additional support in literacy and/or math participate in small-group Learning Lab sessions throughout the week. These sessions are 30 minutes in length and provide targeted instruction tailored to the student’s needs. Students who are not receiving literacy support are enrolled in the Math or Writing Lab to ensure all students benefit from growth opportunities. For students needing more intensive literacy support, additional time may be provided by using their foreign language class period.
At St. Luke’s, we are committed to supporting the growth of the whole child—emotionally, socially, and academically. In our Lower School, we implement the Responsive Classroom approach, which is rooted in four core principles: building a strong, inclusive community; creating engaging academic experiences; practicing effective classroom management; and delivering developmentally appropriate instruction. This approach is woven into the fabric of our school day—from the way students greet one another each morning to the encouraging, respectful language used by teachers.

In Middle School, students participate in a weekly Advisory class designed to address the social-emotional needs specific to adolescence. Topics include conflict resolution, responsible social media use, mental health awareness, and personal safety. Students explore important issues such as boundaries, consent, internet responsibility, and navigating peer relationships, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive during these formative years
