Kindergarten Curriculum
St. Luke’s Kindergarten program nurtures mind, body and spirit, while developing a passion for lifelong learning. Our language arts program is grounded in the science of reading, designed to build foundational literacy skills through evidence-based practices in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. We use Fundations by Wilson Learning to build a firm foundation for beginning readers and to develop handwriting. In addition, we utilize small group reading instruction for each child. Journal writing helps students develop as writers and create the foundation for a love of writing through daily experiences. Our math program builds throughout the year, developing understanding of numbers, computation, patterns, geometry, and functions. Integrating science and social studies within our units allows for hands-on, child-driven projects.
Developing the Whole Child
At St. Luke’s, our Kindergarten program is dedicated to developing the whole child—mind, body, and spirit. Through a nurturing environment, we focus on academic growth, social-emotional learning, and physical development. Our curriculum is designed to engage students in hands-on, meaningful activities that foster a love of learning, while also building critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We emphasize cooperation, kindness, and empathy, encouraging children to become confident, compassionate individuals. With a balance of structured learning and play, we support each child's unique growth and help them build a strong foundation for future success.
Kindergarten Traditions
"St. Luke's Kindergarten is a place full of joyful exploration where each child's curiosity blooms, creativity thrives and the foundation for a lifelong love of learning is laid."
